Thank you for serving with us this Sunday!
We’re so excited you’ll be serving with us in Waumba Land! To help you feel prepared and confident, we’ve put together answers to some common questions. Hopefully this gives you everything you need before you arrive—but if anything’s still unclear, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you!
When do I come?
To help us start strong and be ready to welcome families, please plan to arrive 45 minutes before your service hour:
– If you're serving at the 9:15 service, arrive by 8:30 AM.
– If you're serving at the 11:00 service, arrive by 10:30 AM.
This gives us time to check in, connect as a team, and prepare for a great morning in Waumba Land!
When I arrive, what do I do?
Head to the main entrance of Waumba Land and find the “Take 5” sign. We’ll welcome you and direct you to check in using the iPads. Your name tag will print out with your name and room assignment for the morning.
After that, feel free to stop by the Waumba Volunteer Room and grab some breakfast or a snack before heading to your room!
What will I do?
Introduce yourself to the other volunteers in your room - there may be some new faces. Smile and have fun! Curriculum is attached below.
The hour in Waumba Land is divided into three sections. The beginning “check-in time” is centers that allow children to feel safe and engage their thinking about the big idea for the week. The second segment is for worship and Bible story either in the classroom for Toddlers and Twos or in the Playhouse for Threes and PreK. The last segment is for applying the big idea and Bible story through small group circle time, a craft to take home, and a game to play.
Everything is prepared for you to step in and have a good time. A schedule is on the wall in your classroom with times to keep the hour moving.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfy—you’ll be playing on the floor with kids! We’ll provide a Waumba Land Sub shirt and name tag. If you're in your Sunday best, just slip the shirt over your clothes while serving.
Sub shirts are in the rooms:
– Babies–Toddlers: Located on the counter
– 2s–PreK: In the cabinet
What if I'm hungry?
We’ve got you covered! Breakfast will be waiting for you in the volunteer room when you arrive. We’ll have coffee, bagels, yogurt, cereal, donuts, and drinks to get your morning started right.
We just ask that you store any food or drinks in the cabinets while serving—no food or drink in front of kids, please.
Fuel up and thank you for serving!
Where do my Waumba Land or UpStreet aged kids go while I serve?
Your Waumba-aged kiddos can stay with us in Waumba Land both hours while you serve.
If you have an UpStreet-aged child, they can attend their small group one hour and hang out in the “Hangout” room the other hour.
This setup lets you serve one hour and attend service the other—win-win!
